Recitals

“Providing students with the skills they need to enjoy music throughout their lives.”

At Cedar Music, recitals are a wonderful experience for students. Recitals are under one hour in length and different times are offered to accomodate any schedule.

At a recital, students have the opportunity to show their family and friends what months of hard work and practice have accomplished. By seeing other performers, students are motivated and encouraged. Students are also exposed to other instruments.

Students who have completed a Music Education Awards Program (MEAP) level are also recognized at recitals. This further encourages students to stay involved in the MEAP program and gain an in-depth knowledge of theory concepts, technique, and performance skills.

Since these recitals are such an important time for students, mark them on your calendar far in advance. It is important for your student’s progress that he/she gets a chance to celebrate his/her achievements.

Performance classes are offered before each recital (usually a few weeks prior to the recital). They are optional, but recommended. Performance classes give students a chance to “practice” performing.

Dress for the recitals is generally Sunday best for the performers, and nice clothing for all attending. Please show respect for the performers by coming in nice, clean clothing. Athletic wear, greasy/dirty clothing, and loungewear are inappropriate.
