Five Things to Look for Before Choosing a Preschool

1. Class Size: Choose a school where the class size allows for individual attention. Ask how many students attend each class as well as teachers. Some studios have 16 or more children in one class!

Our class size is 12 or less. When class size exceeds 6 students, we have TWO teachers per class, plus front desk staff to assist you when needed. This small class size and multiple teachers allows for teachers to focus fully on your child.

2. Equipment: Look for more than toys when selecting the best preschool for your child.

Our free play centers change often to coordinate with the theme. We have computers and pianos so every child can experience musical play and academic fun. We also have musical instruments and equipment in addition to regular preschool equipment (books, crayons, etc.) that will enhance your child’s music education.

3. Unique Features: When comparing features, ask about special features and choose the preschool with special features that will be beneficial to your child.

Our specialty preschool enhances learning with music. Music is the foundation on which preschoolers learn most of their academic subjects. Shapes, colors, and more are learned through song. Preschoolers peform one of their songs for added encouragement and recognition at our studio recitals.

4. Curriculum: A good preschool should be more than a day care. It should teach a solid pre-kindergarten curriculum filled with hands-on and stimulating activities.

Our preschool curriculum is based on the state of Utah pre-kindergarten requirements. We have organized themes and schedules which include structured and free-play activities. In addition to letter sounds, writing, arts & crafts, and other pre-k activities, we include computer and keyboard time as well as basic music theory and appreciation.

5. Facility: Preschools should be welcoming for parents and students to attend! It is best to stop by to inspect the facilities, and talk with desk staff and teachers.

Cedar Music Store and Studio has friendly and knowledgeable desk staff to help you during ALL store hours (not just class times). They are available for convenient drop-off and to answer any questions you might have. Our preschool room is well-lit with new carpet and new paint. If anything falls into disrepair, we immediately fix or replace it to maintain a clean atmosphere.
